The Author couldn’t find any more information on this Corbata fellow. Then she found out that ‘corbata por mayor’ means ‘wholesale tie’.  Disappointing.

    Since I live in a state where many signs were posted that promoted Corbett for Governor, I am surprised to learn that Corbata por Mayor is only sales sign, not a political suggestion.

    Not sure the Observer knows the origin of the word “cravat”….it comes from the Croatian name for Croatia – Hrvatska.

    Diligent Reader, I think ‘Corbata’ sounded familiar because of that Pennsylvanian Gov’nor!

    Donna, this is news to me–very interesting news indeed. I didn’t know Croatians were known for their cravats, or that they identified so strongly with that fashionable necktie.
