Casual Canoeing Costume

1 December, 2011

Aside from being a pharmaceutical entrepreneur and a master collector of curiosities, Sir Henry Wellcome was a fan of dressing up. He even had a dedicated outfit—complete with boating hat, blazer and necktie—strictly for the purpose of canoeing.

The Author chuckles to think of her Father, a keen paddler, donning such an outfit every time he fancied a canoe ride around the lake.

The Author snapped the Canoeing outfit at the incredible Wellcome Collection, but more dashing shots of Sir Henry Wellcome can be found on the Wellcome Images Database:

I think he might have been quite good-looking if he hadn’t had a dead ferret attached to his upper lip.

Dancing Beastie, I think you will greatly look forward to a chronological look at Henry Wellcome’s facial fashions! Coming soon!

Vati, I would be delighted to see you in such an outfit next time we’re in the Poconos. No need to grow the moustache!
