This Tree Stump Represents his Life

Whatever induced this fellow to favour an odd tree stump as a tomb stone?  The fact that he died in the 70’s is no excuse.  Or perhaps it is an act of cruel redemption laid down by the ‘beloved’ friends and family he left behind.
