the Inconsolable Scot

12 September, 2010

the Author’s heart goes out to this despondent defeated Scotsman, especially as he and the British forces were defeated in a battle against the French (terribly embarrassing).  This Scotsman is but one figure amongst scores in a large painting in the Palace of Versailles depicting a British surrender.  The Author was so distraught at the sight of this tragic Kilted Fellow that she neglected to record the title of the painting and the name of the battle that it commemorates. Tut tut!
