Hungarian Stamps (a Very Creative Title)

1 June, 2010

a sampling of Hungarian Stamps:

Hungarian stamps

These stamps celebrate Hungarians at work.  I appreciate that the Hungarian portrayed don’t adhere to traditional gender roles: a woman is fiddling with technology (here the Author shows her ignorance) and a man gathers the fruit and vegetables. Maybe he’ll cook a nice meal for his engineer wife.

The bottom left stamp says ‘Annual Work’, and something along the lines of ‘working for a civilized life’.  It is a rather odd scene: a woman plays the violin and a man reads from a book as a building is on fire in the background.  Culture, it seems, is rather absorbing.
