Classier than the Jersey Shore or Ibiza

It’s nearly bathing suit season–also known as sun-burn season for me. Take inspiration for your swimming costume from Ilona Kutas: Polka-dots and nautical stripes–not on a bikini–matched with heels (flip-flops? Never!).

These photographs were all taken at various summer resorts in Austria or Hungary; I’m afraid I don’t have more details on the appealing locale.

The following Photographs are taken from 1935-6, when Ilona was 17 and 18.  I can hardly believe it either–she looks like she’s in her 20s.  I shudder to think of what I looked like at that age.
