Baudelaire Framed by a ‘G’

16 May, 2010

a nice Cover, slightly marred by the Library barcode.  Notice how the caricature of Baudelaire is bordered by ‘G’s (why that particular letter, one wonders).

While not as attractive as my darling Henri de la Rochejaquelein, Baudelaire was quite a stud (and a Poet of Renown-but lets focus on his social life).  A man of many lovers, with a preference for the Exotic, a frequenter of prostitutes, Baudelaire was also the very definition of a ‘flâneur’: a ‘gentleman stroller of the streets’, a ‘botanist of the sidewalk’ and, generally, a Diligent Observer.
