A very splendid nose. Not sure about the chin. As for the hairstyle – that dragged-through-a-hedge-in-a-high-wind look, the scrubby hairs curling about the jaw-line – oh, it makes one despair of the 19th Century really. How did we get from the heroic look of your splendid Toulousain to this, in a generation? Mr. Darcy has always appealed to me more than Mr. Rochester, and I think it’s in no small part owing to the infinitely more attractive fashions of the beginning of the century. Shallow girl that I am.
