Kilts still stop traffic in Italy. When my then-boyfriend wore one in Rome (‘in honour of the Pope’ – ?!) we literally had people cheering him in the street. One big family of Italian tourists scooped us up outside the Colosseum and insisted on us both being in their holiday video. (‘But I’m not wearing a kilt’, I protested. ‘You are Scottish, though, yes? Well then, we want you too!’) We didn’t encounter any demonic priests, but anyway, they’re in dresses, so they are in no position to disapprove.
What a wonderful story! I’m glad they involved you in the video. Whenever my Grandfather wore his kilt in America, he received plentiful attention.
I agree about the priests in dresses–who are they to judge? I think they’re jealous of his shapely legs.
