Russian Proverbs

My appreciation for Russian proverbs began with the discovery of this Little Red Book of traditional, pre-Soviet sayings.  The book is illustrated with demure looking Russian fellows.


The Russian certainly have a better philosophy on personal health than their American/British counterparts.  The Russian proverb ‘drink a glass of wine at dinner, and you steal a ruble from the doctor‘ is assuredly preferable to the bland ‘an apple a day keeps the doctor away’.
