Light from Louis Kahn
5 February, 2013
The Author tore this from a New York Times Magazine many years ago, neglecting to note the name of this Louis Kahn building. No doubt she was too stunned by the photograph and the architecture to attend to record keeping. Perhaps the Author’s Favorite Architect can help?
The Author can’t quite place why exactly, but this photograph reminds her a great deal of Blade Runner.

This Reader’s guess, absurd as it sounds, is that this is either Yale or Bangladesh. Both of those projects involve massive round “windows”. Deferring to your Favorite Architect on this, though….
Donnahardees is correct (second option), it is Jatiyo Sangshad Bhaban, Bangladesh’s parliament building in Dhaka. He has a similar round window at Yale and Exeter too. The same shot, different photographer, is at this website: http://oakazine.com/2010/07/louis-kahn/
Thank you both! I’m lucky to have such knowledgable readers.
Dadork, I wonder if you get the same Blade Runner feeling from this photograph that I do. I defer to you on Blade Runner as well as Architecture.
