Magyar Monday: Decadent Decian Ladies
21 January, 2013
The June 1932 issue of the National Geographic takes particular notice of Hungary’s regional attire. See, previously, eccentric stockings near the Yugoslavian border and the Borsod Dandy. Here we see the Girls of Decs in their national costume. Fear not, there are many more rural fashion shows to come.
The author hopes her tone doesn’t come off as mocking. She genuinely admires the diversity and vibrancy of these unique regional attires, and grateful for the National Geographic’s photographic study.

Which of these outfits would the Author most like to wear? Each is fetching in its own right.
I reckon the outfit of the lovely lady on the far right. However, the skirt could do without the fringe. And you?
The same one, I think. I’m drawn to the central figure, but that’s not quite my flattering shade of green.
